TRIMBAKESHWAR

The village of Trimbak, just 36 km from Nashik, is a place of deep spiritual significance. DAULATABAD

Rising over 600 feet above the Deccan plain, Daulatabad Fort is a striking sight. Originally called Devgiri, it was once the stronghold of the Yadava rulers. In the 13th century, Sultan Mohammed bin Tughlaq of Delhi made it his capital and renamed it Daulatabad, meaning "City of Fortune."

One of the best-preserved medieval forts in the world, Daulatabad showcases incredible defensive features, including secret underground passages and layers of massive walls, some even triple thick. It was a fortress nearly impossible to conquer without treachery.

Key highlights within the fort include the Chand Minar, a 30-meter tower with intricate carvings and glazed tiles, and the Jami Masjid, built by the Khilji ruler Qutubuddin Mubarak. The royal palaces, with their grand halls and courtyards, are also worth exploring. The fort is open to visitors until 6 pm.
